The 2014 Cannes Yachting Festival

The 2014 Cannes Yachting Festival

The days may still be long and the evenings lovely and warm on the Côte d’Azur, but the start of September means we’ve arrived at the traditional Autumn Yacht Show period.

First up is the Cannes Yachting Festival, which takes place between September the 9th to 14th and is one of the world’s premier yachting events for professionals and enthusiasts alike. The show encompasses all the yachting hotspots that the Riviera town of Cannes is famous for and is split into three locations: the central Vieux Port, the adjacent Palaisdes Festivals, as well as Port Pierre Canto, found at the Eastern tip of La Croisette.

2014 marks the 37th edition of the famous yacht show and organisers have promised the biggest yet, with a selection of over 500 boats on display, both in and out of water. The festival is guaranteed to be a veritable feast for the many yacht lovers who visit from around the globe.

The Vieux Port is where those keen for a glimpse of the latest ‘world premiers’ should head. Both motor yacht and sailing yacht fans will be able to browse 2014’s most impressive yachting innovations from 10 to 50 metres in size. A highlight is sure to be the unveiling of Pearl Yacht’s 20m new build, which the British company has created in collaboration with the famous British interior designer, Kelly Hoppen.

Also sure to draw its fair share of attention will be the OTAM 58HT chase boat M/Y Crazy Too, a sleek, black chase boat which can reach top speeds of just under 60 knots.

A sea shuttle will be offered to easily transport visitors between the Vieux Port and Port Pierre Canto, as the journey over water is much quicker than the same journey by road in peak hour Croisette traffic!

Port Pierre Canto is where potential yacht owners can browse the selection of yachts for sale. The leading brokerages from around the world will be displaying the highlights of their sales fleet.

The largest yacht for sale is scheduled to be the 50m M/Y TJ Esperanza. Built in 1999 at the famous Amels shipyard in the Netherlands, she is a perennial charter favourite.

Organisers are excited to announce that, new for this show, all the yachts for sale can be taken out for a sea trial by potential new owners. This real possibility to try before youbuy is a welcome development for those looking to purchase a yacht.

Of course, all the best suppliers of luxury services and products will also be present. Over 70 top architects, designers, interior furnishing, technology and equipment providers will have stands and look forward to welcoming visitors inside the Palais des Festivals.
