If we needed any reminding that yet another successful Mediterranean charter season is drawing to a close, we only have to look at the calendar of yachting events on the Côte d’Azur this summer.
Both Cannes and Monaco play host to two very prestigious brokerage shows each September, which also serve as a celebration of the season’s achievements and a chance to consolidate new connections and partnerships.
This year marks the 24th edition of Monaco’s globally renowned sales show, which runs from the 24th – 27th September. Leading industry figures from all over the world will be present, and if any proof was needed of the Principality’s position at the centre of the yachting world, a visit over these four days will only affirm it.
The 2014 Monaco Yacht Show promises to be the biggest yet. Last year, over 33,000 people attended the event, and this year organisers are expecting even more visitors. One of the biggest attractions will be the new Monaco Yacht Club, which only opened its doors this summer. Designed by Lord Norman Foster, the multi-storey, multi-deck building is rather reminiscent of a sleek superyacht itself and is already the centerpiece of the Monaco harbour front.
Over 100 of the world’s most luxurious superyachts for sale will be on display and available for viewings in Port Hercule itself, with many more at anchor. The largest yacht is set to be Oceanco’s newly completed 91.5m MY Equanimity, followed closely by MY Cakewalk, an impressive 85.6m superyacht from Derecktor and the largest yacht to be built in the USA in almost a century. This year’s crop of the most innovative tenders and toys is also guaranteed to be the centre of attention.
The Monaco Yacht Show is a great opportunity for potential yacht owners to meet key industry players, from the top shipbuilders in Europe, America and Asia-Pacific, to the world’s premier naval architects, newest technological advances and must-have luxury products. Over 500 companies will be exhibiting, along with the attendance of yacht brokers from around the world.
Simply being present in Monaco over the course of the show will ensure your list of industry contacts rapidly expands. Numerous social events turn the show into a day and night affair, from sunset cocktails onboard yachts to formal dinners hosted by the industry’s big names.
